About the area
Riverton is the south Salt Lake Valley's established value option—larger R-1-zoned lots, mature tree lines in older neighborhoods, and prices that typically undercut comparable Draper inventory while sitting close to the same highway network. The city covers 12.6 square miles between Bangerter Highway and the Mountain View Corridor, with newer construction concentrated on the western side near the MVC interchange. Mountain View Village, CenterCal Properties' approximately one-million-square-foot lifestyle center, anchors the city's retail—Cinemark, Harmon's, Ulta, Burlington, and more than 30 restaurants, all within Riverton. Riverbend Golf Course and 33 city parks covering more than 540 acres give the city substantial outdoor recreation. A $621 million Mountain View Corridor to I-15 Lehi connector project is in progress, projected to save approximately 12 minutes per direction in peak traffic to Silicon Slopes.

Mountain View Village defines Riverton's retail scene. Opened in 2018 and expanded in 2021, it covers roughly 85 acres and about one million square feet of mixed-use space. Major tenants include a 14-screen Cinemark luxury theater, Harmon's premium grocery, Ulta, Burlington, Nike, Lululemon, TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, and a Costco. The Jordan River Parkway passes through Riverton with dedicated trailheads at Roi Hardy Park and Riverbend Trailhead, putting the Jordan River's 40-plus-mile multi-use trail directly within reach. Riverton City Park (31 acres, renovated 2015) features 8 pickleball courts, a large amphitheater, pavilions seating around 400, and summer community events. The Whirlpool Park splash pad serves warmer months.
Getting Around
Riverton has three major highway corridors: I-15, Bangerter Highway, and the Mountain View Corridor. UDOT completed freeway-style Bangerter interchanges at 13400 S and 2700 W in 2024, reducing signal delays on that route. Downtown SLC is about 22 to 25 minutes north via I-15; the airport is 26 to 32 minutes. Silicon Slopes/Lehi is roughly 17 to 18 minutes via I-15 or the MVC—closer than downtown SLC. There is no TRAX or FrontRunner station inside Riverton. UTA On Demand microtransit serves Riverton, connecting residents to seven TRAX and FrontRunner stations via a rideshare-style service.

Schools
Jordan School District serves all of Riverton. Riverton High School (mascot Silverwolves, opened 1999) is the primary high school; Mountain Ridge High School (Herriman, opened 2019) serves students from Riverton's southern boundary areas. Middle schools include Oquirrh Hills Middle and South Hills Middle. Elementary schools include Riverton Elementary (ALPS accelerated learners magnet), Foothills Elementary (Chinese Immersion), Midas Creek Elementary, Southland Elementary (Chinese Immersion and arts integration), and Rosamond Elementary.
